Roadmap to Success: The Wellness Industry

StockSnap_6ASMNGB3YI1

In Part 2 of the “Wellness Industry” series, we discussed the second and third advantages of a business in the wellness industry over other professional involvements. This article features advantages 4 and 5, beginning with letters L and N from “W-E-L-L-N-E-S-S.” (For the entire series, go to https://www.mlm.com/mlm_author/infotraxsystems.)

First let’s review the principal advantages you have with an MLM business in the wellness industry:

  1. W—Wellness advantage. You are part of the wellness industry—one of the most robust and promising sectors of the economy—with a prospect of becoming the next trillion-dollar sector.
  2. E—Easy to learn. The skills and procedures needed for success are easy to acquire and put into practice.
  3. L—Leveraged income = residual income. By empowering partners in your business, you can generate residual income from the very beginning using a system that works for you 24-hours a day.
  4. L—Low overhead. Your new business is relatively inexpensive to launch. You can begin immediately, with low overhead and low start-up costs. Your long-term investment will largely be in time and energy.
  5. N—No time clock. This is an ultimately flexible enterprise. You control your time involvement, with complete freedom and flexibility to accommodate and balance your various personal, family, and professional needs.
  6. E—Expandable. You can start part-time, if you choose. You can follow your own preferred growth pathway. You can proceed systematically at your own pace and then advance to allow your business to become your dominant full-time career.
  7. S—Self-directed. You are your own boss. You are the president of your own company—with the opportunity to expand and grow in almost unlimited scope, based on your personal commitment, creativity, and leadership.
  8. S—Satisfaction of helping others in a noble cause. You can have the satisfaction of knowing that you are adding value to the lives of those you serve.

Low Overhead

The fourth advantage to your new business is that it is relatively inexpensive to launch. You can begin immediately, with low overhead and low start-up costs. Your long-term investment will largely be in terms of time and energy.

What actual expenses will you incur?

Here is a checklist of items that you will need to have on hand as part of your launch campaign:

  • Samples of the products you represent.
  • A professional work station for the CEO of your company—you.
  • Suitable attire to go along with your professional stature.
  • A dependable time-management system (hard copy or digital).
  • Internet and email service.
  • Professional collateral, including business cards and stationery.

You may have these items already. If not, they need not cost a fortune—but they are important elements of professional success.

The Flip Side of the Coin

Now for the flip side of the coin: Even though it doesn’t cost much to launch your MLM business, there is an inherent danger. Once again—it’s “easy in / easy out.” If you haven’t committed much by way of invested dollars to launch your new business, you might too easily slide out of focus. Therefore, it is critically important to make a fail-safe commitment to stay with it until you have reached your financial goals.

One way to make such a commitment is to let your family and friends in on your secret—that you are about to become financially independent through your own business. A public commitment is one of the most powerful ways to start and maintain a new habit, according to celebrated psychologist William James. Therefore, announce your commitment to the whole world and they will help you stick to your guns.

No Time Clock

The fifth advantage to your new business is that it is ultimately flexible. You control your time involvement with complete freedom and flexibility. It is up to you to accommodate and balance your various personal, family, and professional needs. Finally—no more time clock to punch. You find your most productive hours and you work them in sync with your desires and your energy. You can work at home. You can work while you travel. You can work during the night. You can work in the shower. You can work from a coffee house. You control 100 percent of your own time. What a fantastic opportunity!

The Flip Side of the Coin

And yet there is another side of the “no time clock” coin to watch out for. With the freedom of choosing how you balance your life in this line of business comes the need to do so with care. All the typical non-business demands of every day life will follow you constantly. It will take discipline and commitment to accomplish everything required of a successful businessperson. It’s your time, but you have to use it wisely. Let your spirit of courage and resolve propel you forward.

Studs Terkel said once, “Most of us have jobs too small for our spirits” (Personal Excellence, May 1997.) With your new business, you have a chance to do a job that is finally the match for your ambition and potential. What an opportunity! With the spirit of success in your soul, move forward to balance your life and keep your progress on track.

Part 4 of this series features items 6, 7, and 8 above in the list of advantages of an MLM business in the wellness industry (W-E-L-L-N-E-S-S).
