Book Review: Network Marketing for Dummies
I recently finished the book Network Marketing for Dummies, written by Zig Ziglar and John P. Hayes, Ph.D. First of all, if you’re wanting to be involved in network marketing, you’re going to hear the name Zig Ziglar a LOT. He was basically a rock star in the industry and has the knowledge to offer some really great insights. That being said, you automatically know that this book is going to be good.
Who this book is for
This book is a great read for anyone who’s interested in network marketing, but needs to see the “proof”. You know who you are, you want to see the numbers, hear the stats, and know in advance if network marketing is the industry for you. This book explains why network marketing works. Sitting pretty at $100 billion a year, I think the numbers and evidence in this book is rather compelling.
The authors dedicated several chapters to helping you determine whether or not network marketing is a good fit for you, your personality, and your lifestyle. Network marketing isn’t for everyone. Success in this industry hinges on personality.
There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding the industry and this book sorts out the truth from the lies. One of the most pernicious lies in the industry is that, in network marketing you can get something for nothing. I really appreciate that this book fights that misconception. The authors clearly state that you get out of network marketing what you put into it, which to me is key.
One section helps you differentiate between legitimate network marketing companies and pyramid schemes. It’s wise to be hesitant when deciding whether or not to invest time and money into a company. After reading this book, you should feel confident identifying the right kind of company to go into business with.
Network Marketing for Dummies will help you find the right company for you. It teaches you how to research companies, how to find the most reputable companies, how to find the companies with the best credit ratings, and which questions you should ask before joining any network marketing company. Once you’ve chosen the best company for you, you will learn how to evaluate a company’s products and services. This is essential in any business venture. It doesn’t matter how good of a salesperson you are, you can’t get repeat customers with a shoddy product. You will also learn how to get the appropriate amount of training that you need to sell.
Blueprint for industry success
There are many key steps that you need to take when setting up your network marketing business and Network Marketing for Dummies really gives you a great plan to get started and to create success. There’s a section on organizing your business; what to expect when working from home, what you need to know before going into business with a partner, how to choose an accountant, figuring out what comes after signing up, sponsoring, training, and motivating your downline.
The most important thing in Network Marketing for Dummies
Two words every businessperson knows: sales and marketing. This section could be an entire book on its own. Take my word for it, pull out your highlighter and read this section thoroughly. It will teach you invaluable information.
Conclusion
Overall, Network Marketing for Dummies is a well-written, thoroughly researched book, written by two professionals who have been in the industry for a very long time. In my opinion, everyone who is considering going into network marketing for the first time should read this book. You will go into the industry with your eyes wide open and with clear and realistic expectations. I love the clear-cut style used in books from the for Dummies line. Anyone can read them, anyone can understand them, and they really give you a lot of bang for your buck.
Make sure to comment after you’ve read the book and let us know what you think! Enjoy!
