How to be successful in Network Marketing

Success

How can you become successful in network marketing?  There are several things that I’ve done that have worked for me, and it’s a privilege to share them. One that is essential to my success is I’ve always had a crystal clear knowledge about why I’m in the business.  When I first got started, my “why” was simply, “financially challenged.”  Broke, in layman’s terms.  I needed to generate some passive residual income, and I wanted to help my family—but you can’t help others out of the ditch if you’re still there, yourself.  Just being able to do things for my parents (like take them on vacations and buy them cars) is one of the things that drove me into the business.  So, one of the things I encourage everyone to do when they get started in network marketing is have a crystal clear “why” for the business.

Keep your “why” in front of you every single day so you can see it and be reminded about it.

If you don’t do something daily, it’s impossible to accomplish your “why.”  Because of this, I do several things daily.  One thing is writing my goals down—because I’m a natural procrastinator, I have to make sure to write them down the night before.  When I wake in the morning, I have a list of things to accomplish that day.

Besides writing my goals down daily, there are two foundational things I make sure to do daily to ensure the success of my business.  One is personal development.  Every morning I start my day off by reading the Bible to make sure I’m spiritually grounded.  After that I read 30 more minutes of a good book.  When I first got involved in network marketing, my mentors told me to work harder on myself than I do on my business—as I grew, my business would naturally grow.  I like to get mentally prepared, daily, for any obstacles that might come up during the day.

The second pillar is doing a minimum of three brand new exposures every single day.  This isn’t calling the same people you’ve been calling for the last six months.  Meet three brand new people every single day and give them an invitation to take a look at your business opportunity.  The only thing we can control in network marketing is how many people we put in front of the information.  We can’t control when they’ll sign up, but we can control how many see the information every day.

To keep things organized, I make sure to stay in close contact with the leadership in my organization.  Network marketing is simply a business where we build and grow and transfer leadership.  I’m constantly in contact with the leadership and am in even closer contact with the up-and-coming leadership to make sure they are tuned in.  I make sure they continue to grow personally; are working with the organizations on a daily basis; getting questions answered; overcoming obstacles; to make sure we’re moving together as one team.

Concentrate on building the culture in your organization into a family-like atmosphere.  You’ll have a closer-knit team which is hard to break apart. Having a mentor is also very important.  Someone you can look up to who is successful in the profession that you can ask questions of or get advice from.  Something one of my mentors told me a long time ago is that it’s important to be a professional in this business.  Amateurs in any field: whatever the score is, whatever the occupation, amateurs make very little to no money.  When you start to treat network marketing like a true profession is when you start making the big money.

Professionals are the ones who are practicing every single day. They work and practice, and are perfecting their craft year-round, constantly improving.  The same thing should happen with network marketing: if you want to become a professional in network marketing, you have to do everything it takes to be successful, consistently.

The final thing I consider to be essential in building a big network market organization is building for events.  Events are where the rubber meets the road in network marketing—where your vision grows.  They are where you see the big picture of what’s happening and get to rub shoulders with others like yourself.  Whether it’s a big time corporate event or a local, home event, always build like it’s the last event in the company’s history.

These are just a couple of things that have helped me become successful in the network marketing profession.  I think network marketing, when it’s done correctly, is the best occupation there is.  I would encourage everyone who is involved in it to take it seriously.  Work it as a professional, and you, too, can have success.
